Chicago, Illinois – At its biennial national convention in his hometown, Dennis Cook of Chicago, IL was elected Chairman of the Young Republican National Federation (YRNF). YRNF is an official national organization under the Republican Party umbrella, which brings together young adult members between the ages of 18 and 40.
More than 500 delegates from Young Republican state organizations attended the event to vote in their leadership elections and listen to conservative speakers, including Jeb Bush Jr. The Young Republican National Conference also held a presidential straw poll for members. Gov. Scott Walker (WI) won the poll with highest percentage of votes at 22%, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (FL) with 20% and Sen. Rand Paul (KY) claiming 14%.
Cook and his team had overwhelming national support to lead the millennial GOP effort. Chairman Cook previously served Co-Chairman of YRNF starting in 2013 and as the Chairman of the Illinois Young Republican Federation from 2007 – 2013. He also acted as YRNF Auditor. A proud graduate of Ohio State University, he is the President of Strive Strategies, a national consulting firm.
“We won the election, but the real work starts today,” says Cook. “We’ve picked experienced leaders for our team because we want to impact the future of this organization and create success for all of our members. We’re excited to bring the same level of enthusiasm into the 2016 election and lead the charge behind our Republican candidate.” Cook’s YR Unite ticket included Co-Chairman Chris Carmona of Texas and Vice-Chairman At-Large Adam Ellison of California.
The new leadership has released a “Day 1 Plan” with a list of ten action items focused on developing local chapters, building stronger relationships in the organization and uplifting state and national young leaders. Additionally, YRNF’s Executive Board plans to focus on deploying Young Republicans for victory in the 2016 elections at all levels of government.
