YRNF Congratulates Congressman-elect Dan Donovan on His Win in NY-11 Special Election
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Young Republican National Federation congratulates Congressman-elect Dan Donovan on his resounding victory in New York’s 11th Congressional District special election. Donovan has a distinguished law career and has served as the Staten Island district attorney for over a decade. He brings a deep understanding of the struggles that face the American justice system and dedication to serve the people of New York’s 11th District with him to Washington.
Donovan’s landslide victory against Democratic opponent, City Councilman Vincent Gentile, speaks for itself with a 59% to 39% victory. Jason Weingartner, Chairman of the YRNF, said he was “happy to sponsor a deployment of Young Republicans to help support Dan Donovan’s campaign this past weekend. We pushed to get out the vote to secure a GOP victory. From door-knocking to phone banking the YRs experience with Staten Island’s residents was informative and enlightening for their excitement to elect Donovan as their next Representative, which was clearly visible in a 20 point margin of victory at the polls.” The YRs made thousands of voter contacts as they continue to build on 2014 deployment successes.
Chairman Weingartner went on to say that he “looks forward to seeing Congressman-elect Dan Donovan’s great work in our nation’s Capital while he fights to ensure that his constituents’ needs are well represented.”
Rep. Greg Walden, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee released a statement yesterday expressing his support for the freshman Member, “Dan will be a dedicated, hard-working, and strong representative in Congress who will fight for jobs, transportation improvements, and the kind of government that Staten Island and Brooklyn families can count on. I look forward to having Dan become a part of our historic Republican majority and I am excited to see his many accomplishments in Congress as we work together to move our country forward.”
